The Goddess Tara is a manifestation of the compassion and wisdom of the Buddha. She is sacred to Buddhists who love her as the representation of the Triple Goddess: Virgin, Mother and Queen.

Tara is equally loved in China, where she is known as Kwan Yin.

Tara and Kwan Yin are now reaching and touching the hearts of many of us here in Western Countries. To me this illustrates the uprising of love, compassion and understanding as a force for positive and caring change in our world.

Tara is important to me and to thousands of others because she represents the power and strength of love, a universal love. When we feel compassion we feel empathy and understanding. When we feel compassion we may also feel drawn to act, to do something that helps someone in pain.

This is why compassion is so powerful, because it is born of love and caring, of Brother and Sisterhood and we are able to see and feel our connectedness. In this way compassion is different from both sympathy and pity.
 

     Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the amount of pain and suffering in the world?
     Do you wonder what you can do to alleviate this, to make it better?

     At least one thing we can do is be compassionate.
     Be compassionate with yourself - soft, gentle, loving kindness.
     Be compassionate with others, with animals, with our planet.
     Nurture compassion, tune into your heart.

We can call on Tara for assistance. You can use the picture of Tara here on my website to connect with her. You can ask Tara for help and healing, you can make a prayer, a request that your own suffering or the suffering of another be assisted. This is her job she is a Mother and is here to help all who call on her. Tara’s leg is poised ready to move into action.

You may know a human Tara. You may be one yourself - there are many people who are committed to uplifting humanity through their love and compassion, through their vision of a world where we know that one persons suffering is also our own.

If the Goddess Tara touches and connects with you invite her in and let her come alive in your heart and your life, she will!
